What’s in a name?
Divine
Wild
Flow
The name DivineWildFlow is inspired by my strong connection with the Wild Woman archetype and the Divine Feminine. I am passionate about embracing those energies and ways of being, which include honoring our intuition, instincts, inner awareness, embodied wisdom, emotions, Divine connection, rhythms, connections, and flow. We connect with these energies by being deeply present in this moment with curiosity, wonder, and an openness to discovering what is unfolding in our freshly arising experience. We learn to listen to and trust the inner flow of energy. We integrate our Divine higher self and our untamed Wild as we flow through the journey! I have found that inner healing and awakening are actually DivineWildFlow journeys where we learn to blaze our own paths, not follow the straight and narrow roads someone else made.
“Listen To the Waves WithIN” ~ Rumi
I chose to de-genger the name DivineWildFlow (instead of terms like Divine Feminine) to honor all gender identities and all wild souls. It’s actually a kind of energy and way that exists beyond gender. This energy is called various things from different cultures and traditions, such as Yin (YinYang) and the T’ao. I also honor that the patriarchy and cultural conditioning affects different genders differently, and I have a special calling for supporting women and sisterhood. I am passionate about creating empowering spaces for women to be safe to explore, embrace, and express all aspects of themselves and their experiences. I also support DivineWildFlow in everyone of all gender identities.
We All Rise Together!
The worldwide partriarchies have denigrated, denied, bullied, burned, and buried these energies and ways of being. Only very narrow aspects of DivineWildFlow have been safe to express.. In reality, DivineWildFlow encompasses many aspects of ourSelves. It is as much brave and badass as it is maitri loving kindness. It is as much mother bear as it is nurturer. It is as much wild ocean waves as a gentle current. It is as much the fierce force of nature as it is the creative genius of nature.
DivineWildFlow is dangerous to the patriarchy, which is why it has been violently buried. If everyone connected to and trusted their own inner wisdom, inner knowing, and inner compasses, the patriarchy could not manipulate us into following people and systems who we think know better than we do. If we trust ourSelves, we won’t continue to trade our power and resources for the illusions of guidance, “right” answers, safety, and security. If we deeply know from the inside that we are enough, we aren’t as easy to exploit for the illusions of belonging, acceptance, validation, and worthiness. The patriarchal systems have never actually had OUR “right” answers or taken care of us. They have exploited the people for their own profits and greed.
Our answers for our highest paths come from within, once we connect with our own inner compasses and inner knowing.
About the name
Summer Sunderland
I changed my first, middle, and last names in my 20s. We’ll need to become bosom buddies before I’ll tell you the name I grew up with, because I kind of hate the whole vibe of it. Or you could probably Google it somehow. In case you’re wondering, I chose Summer because I was born on the summer solstice. I feel like I got my first choice for a birthday! Sunderland is my grandmother’s maiden name. She was the embodiment of a sweet kindergarten teacher. I used my other grandmother’s maiden name, Jenne, as a middle name. She was the embodiment of a tell-it-like-it-is diner waitress. They were like the Odd Couple, and their combination is a very cool mix. I felt passionately about taking actions to disrupt patriarchal norms from a young age, such as only the father’s name being passed down. In my case, both the names Sunderland and Jenne had died out in the family lines. I have revived them. That is aligned with who I am.
